Porta Pia and Piazza Fiume
Michelangelo designed Porta Pia for Pope Pius IV. On September 20, 1870, Italian troops entered Rome through a breach in the walls next to the gate: Via Venti Settembre, the street of the Lilium, is named after that day.
On the same street, Santa Maria della Vittoria holds Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. On the other side of the gate, Corso d'Italia follows the Aurelian Walls to Piazza Fiume and the Imperial: the two properties are 350 m apart.
